Bridging Cash and Cryptocurrencies
MoneyGram and the Stellar Development Foundation are expanding access to digital assets and financial services worldwide. Together, we’ve created an on/off-ramp service to increase the utility of digital assets by creating a bridge between cash and cryptocurrencies.
Powered by the Stellar blockchain and Stellar-enabled digital wallets, MoneyGram's retail network, and Circle's USD Coin (USDC), a fully-reserved dollar digital currency, the service provides cash users access to the world of cryptocurrency via any participating MoneyGram location.
This first-of-its-kind service has also led to Stellar Aid Assist providing aid organizations, such as the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and International Rescue Committee (IRC), with instant and transparent digital aid at scale that can be cashed out at MoneyGram locations.
